Position Overview: Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer will be instrumental in building and optimizing American Roots’ operational infrastructure.  Reporting directly to the CEO and President, this role will oversee daily operations, refine processes, manage resources, and ensure the organization meets its goals effectively and efficiently.

 Key Responsibilities:

·        Operational Leadership: Provides strategic, organizational, and administrative leadership to the day-to-day operations of a business. 

·        Strategic Implementation: Work closely with the CEO, President, and other executives to develop and execute operational strategies that drive efficiency, productivity, and sustainable growth

·        Process Improvement: Analyze, identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies to improve productivity and reduce costs

·        Team Management: Oversee and manage all departments to ensure seamless workflow, including building teams, supervising the creation of new businesses, and monitoring investments

·        Resource Allocation: Optimize resource allocation to maximize output and minimize waste

·        Quality Assurance: Maintain high quality standards across all operational activities to deliver excellent outcomes

·        Problem Solving: Address and resolve operational challenges promptly to minimize disruptions

·        Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, laws, and industry standards

·        Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, financial planning, and financial reporting to ensure alignment with financial goals 

·        Performance Monitoring: Monitor company performance and recommend strategies to improve results

·        Culture Development: Help develop a culture that aligns with the company's mission and vision, communicate policies to employees, and implement the plans of management

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 

·        Proven leadership ability with a talent for motivating and managing teams.

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·        Proficiency in project management, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities effectively.

·        Familiarity with operational systems and relevant technologies.

·        Financial acumen, including budgeting and resource allocation.

 

Preferred Experience:

Minimum of 5 years in operations within a business, nonprofit, or government setting.

Experience working in mission-driven organizations or startups is a plus.
