Our Mission/Our Story
American Roots exists to serve the American Union worker. We believe in honest work, fair pay, and jobs worth showing up for. That means Union wages, real benefits, and respect for the people who make things every day. By putting labor first and refusing shortcuts, we’re helping bring American manufacturing back in a way that strengthens workers, communities, and the economy. That includes citizens, legal, law-abiding immigrants and New Americans who are part of USW Union Local 366 and Maine’s communities.
In 2013, founder and co-owner Ben Waxman returned to his hometown of Portland, Maine, driven by a simple idea: create real jobs in the place that raised him. That homecoming led him back to his own family roots and to the opportunity that became American Roots.
